Personal Teaching Style:
I try to build ideas form the foundation up. As we learn to sing in choir, I work with what the student’s know and then let the music teach by what it requires to do a solid performance: rhythmic ideas, melodic ideas, diction, breathing , worked painting, expression of text and so forth. Discussion, experimentation and comparison are techniques I use often to build my student’s knowledge of choral singing.
How I integrate my faith and Catholic values into my teaching:
My faith and Catholic values are integrated into my teaching in several ways. First of all, who I am as a person is exhibited throughout the day by how I react to and respond to student’s questions and concerns. Secondly, how I treat my student one on one and in a group setting, displays who I am as a person. Lastly, as we explore the texts of songs, I am able to integrate Jesus’ teachings as they relate to the text of the songs we are studying.
