2010 Reunion Weekend Save-the-Dates

Sun., Oct. 24 Class of 1959 and earlier

All these reunions will take place at Pius XI. Watch for your invitation in the mail next fall.

Interested in planning the October events? Our first reunion committee meeting will be held on Wed., March 3, in the Pius XI Library at 6:30 p.m.

The Class of 1960 will be hosting their 50th reunion on Friday, Sept. 24 and Saturday, Sept. 25. The Saturday event will be a dinner held at Westmoor Country Club. For questions, contact Carlene (Breitbach) Heidemann at carlene@wi.rr.com.

Pius XI Alum to Appear on Oprah

Grace Weber ’06 is singing on Oprah and needs your vote! Grace Weber, Pius XI High School 2006 graduate, now a senior at New York University, was named one of eight finalists in Oprah Winfrey’s Karaoke contest. She will sing one song during the Thursday, Nov. 5 show, competing for viewer votes to move to the next round in the competition.

Tune in and watch Grace on Oprah and then VOTE. Voting will take place only on Thursday following the show. For details tune into Oprah or click here.

She has also been receiving local coverage surrounding her Oprah debut – WISN-TV Channel 12 did a story, as well as OnMilwaukee.com’s Tim Cuprisin.

Homecoming Mass

Fr. Brian Mason '78 presided over our 2009 Homecoming Liturgy on Sept. 17. Pius XI alumni and members of the community attended this event and watched the football team carry on the tradition of serving as the choir during the Mass.

In Memoriam

It is with great sadness that we report the death of 2009 Pius XI High School graduate, Pvt. Jonathan Morales. Jonathan passed away on August 20, 2009 as a result of complications from heat stroke while at U.S. Army training camp in South Carolina. Jonathan was a dedicated athlete who demonstrated a deep commitment to his faith and family, as well as his studies. Please join the entire Pius XI community in extending your deepest sympathy and prayers for Jonathan's family and friends during this difficult time. Students remember Jonathan in the September issue of Scope, the student newspaper.
