Roger Radke - Varsity Head Coach

Roger Radke (1974 graduate of Pius XI)

Roger Radke returned to Pius in 1980 as a social science teacher and men’s soccer coach. The Pius men’s soccer program under Radke’s leadership and guidance became a perennial soccer power for the better part of two decades. His teams were always contenders for conference titles and won 2 of them in 1992 and 1993.  He took his team to the state championship game 5 times and won 3 of those titles in 1980, 1988, and 1993. In 1993 he was honored as Coach-of-the-year by the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association. In 1994 he was selected a head coach for the Annual Wisconsin Masonic All-Star game. In addition to building and leading the men’s soccer program Radke provided valuable assistance and leadership to the women’s soccer program on and off, most notable contribution was when he took over a team that was struggling early in the season and led them to the state championship game in 2000. In 2000 Radke retired from coaching as his own children were beginning high school at Pius. We are proud to say that his retirement ended in 2010, when Radke returned to coaching soccer. He is currently our women’s soccer head coach.

A number of Radke’s former players have gone on to play soccer at a college level,  some played professionally, and others have gone on to coach at other major programs. He has two players in the Pius Athletic Hall of Fame.
