The Global Youth Leadership Institute is a national group that provides Outward Bound type leadership experiences for high school students each summer. These experiences include learning to sail a large three-masted schooner the first summer, learning from a Pueblo Indian elder and climbing a mountain in New Mexico the second summer, and learning about global issues at Earth University while living with a family in Costa Rica the third summer. During the school year after each summer, the students are expected to implement goals of service to their school and to their community that they developed during the summer. This program is in its first year at Pius.
