At Pius XI High School, we pride ourselves on the strength and commitment of our community. From students to parents, alumni and friends, we rely greatly on interns and volunteers to help in our success. Parent involvement is especially valuable to make a difference in the lives of our students.
A wide variety of opportunities exist to help you get connected. Certain projects can be completed at home, while others must be done at school, which offers the added benefit of meeting new friends with a common goal.
If you'd like to get involved, send an email to volunteering@piusxi.org detailing your area(s) of interest.
-
Pius XI Partners: These volunteers serve a crucial role by working closely with individual prospective families in their own parishes and middle schools, and helping promote the value of a Pius XI education.
-
Pius XI Parent Producers: This group’s primary focus is to support the Pius XI Performing Arts and includes fundraising, selling tickets, ushering, assisting with costuming and maintenance.
-
Pius XI Parents for Visual Arts: This group of volunteers provides hands-on support for students in the Visual Arts by preparing artwork for exhibition and competition.
-
Alumni Council: Parents who are also Pius XI alumni are invited to get in on the ground floor of this new organization whose main objectives will include connecting Pius XI alumni.
-
Athletics: Each Pius XI athletic team relies on parent involvement to help raise funds and promote community-building events. Your child does not need to be an athlete; all interested parents are invited to participate.
-
Special Events: From the
Fall Fundraiser to the Principal’s Dinner, the annual Auction to the Fr. Carney Golf Outing, or our newly planned all-school Walkathon, help is needed organizing event details, addressing invitations, selling tickets, coordinating corporate involvement and soliciting auction items and/or sponsorships.
-
Carpooling: In you are interested in getting involved with the carpool program at Pius. Please email
carpooling@piusxi.org
In addition to these Institutional Advancement sponsored events, many other opportunities exist to help with events planned and organized by "friends of Pius XI," such as:

- Parent-Child Liturgies
- Catholic Schools Week
- Parent-Teacher Conferences
- Incoming Freshman Welcoming Events
- School Dances/Prom & Post Prom
General Office: Volunteers are needed to assist the Pius XI administration with varied office duties – may include answering telephones, stuffing envelopes, inputting data, filing, and website maintenance.
CHAPERONES NEEDED FOR WINTERLUDE!
Our Pius XI students are looking forward to Winterlude 2010: Glow in the Snow with much anticipation. The dance is the highlight of the first quarter, but in order to ensure a positive and safe experience for all, we are in need of chaperones. Our Student Activities Council is rounding up parent volunteers and members may have approached some of you already (thank you if you have already signed up). We expect close to 600 students to attend, so the more chaperones, the better!
This year we will be hosting our event at the awesome Harley-Davidson Museum! Motor Restaurant will even offer a special Pius XI menu that evening if you should want dinner before the dance. SAC is really excited about this venue! The dance itself is in a free-standing facility adjacent to the Harley-Davidson parking garage and event management offices, so it will be very manageable from a chaperone’s standpoint.
Please consider donating your time to create a memorable evening for our students. Contact Barbara Kurudza via email at bkurudza@piusxi.org, at 414-290-0212 to let me know if you are able to help out.
DETAILS ARE AS FOLLOWS:
Date: Saturday, February 6, 2010
Time: Dance – 8 to 11 p.m.; Chaperones Arrive – 7:15 pm
Location: Harley-Davidson Museum -- 400 W Canal Street, Milwaukee (venue at northwest corner of the museum campus – will be marked with balloons).
Thank you!
