IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING CHANGE IN MEDICATION ADMINISTRATION
Wisconsin statutes regarding administration of drugs to students will change effective March 1, 2011.
As of that date, Pius XI is no longer able to dispense non-prescription medication. The legislation is intended to improve the safety of administering medications to our students. Key points are as follows:
-
Over-the-counter medication must be provided by a parent or guardian.
-
Non-prescription medication must be sent to school in manufacturer's original packaging.
-
Medications sent with students must be labeled and can be stored securely in the Main Office.
-
Prescription medication must be sent in a pharmacy-labeled container with the dosage needed for that school day only.
-
Medication may be dispensed by designated school staff only after a parent/guardian has provided written consent.
Consent forms are available in the Main Office; or click here to download the non-prescription form.
