INDEPENDENT THINKERS

Graduating independent, responsible thinkers.

At Pius XI, students are challenged to discover and realize their God-given talents and to pursue their passions in the careers or life paths that they choose. No two Pius XI graduates will have the exact same educational experience -- this is what differentiates us from other college-preparatory high schools.

Our students become personally involved in deciding the paths they will take in life. They begin this process by collaborating with a teacher advisor, faculty members and their parents, and continue this discernment throughout the four years that they are entrusted to us.

It is in this kind of environment of personal empowerment that future leaders and difference-makers begin to come into their own. Consequently, at Pius XI we not only prepare students to succeed in college, we prepare them to succeed in life.

That’s why Pius XI students graduate as smart, principled, confident, compassionate, accepting and open-minded young adults. These qualities tend to make them more accomplished later in life -- in the traditional sense of profession and income, as well as in terms of their contributions to their communities and service to those in need.
  • Inquiry-based, student-centered teaching challenges students to explore and develop their sense of curiosity, utilize time management strategies and creative problem solving skills, and self-evaluate their progress.
  • A flexible schedule fosters student responsibility and offers a forward glimpse into the daily schedule of life in college.
  • The schedule allows for multiple pathways to learning. Course work includes a combination of traditional classroom experiences, small- group or one-on-one sessions with teachers, and resource sessions where students work independently.
  • Students are encouraged to pursue what interests them and to choose separate paths to obtain their individual goals.
