Creativity is a vital skill in navigating our fast-paced, ever changing society. Creative thinkers shape our world, whether scientists, engineers, researchers, entrepreneurs, business executives, writers and illustrators, designers, inventors, educators and parents.
At Pius XI High School, the Arts are not simply a class you can take – they are part of every aspect of the school day. Whether in a laboratory, on the playing field, in the studio or on the stage – our students are taught to embrace creativity and innovation in all areas of their lives.
Our customized approach to education encourages students to realize their God-given gifts and pursue their passions. Upon graduation our students are not only poised to take on the rigor of higher education, but also to make a positive difference in the world at large.
We strongly believe the arts make a significant contribution to helping all students achieve success in school, work and life. Our caring environment, shaped by communion and community, challenges students to explore, sample and consider a vast array of course options and career directions. This eye-and-mind-opening experience is not an elective. It is the Pius XI culture.
We believe students learn best when they are educated as individuals. At Pius XI, no two student schedules are exactly the same. This flexibility allows for students to study Engineering and figure drawing, marine biology and orchestra and hundreds of other options.
The Arts at Pius XI have been recognized by the White House Commission with four Presidential Scholars in the past 18 years. Each year, the White House distinguishes only two students nationwide in each discipline with this honor.
The Performing Arts at Pius XI are the legacy of our founding patronesses – the School Sisters of St. Francis who have nurtured and shaped the musical and cultural scene of Southeastern Wisconsin for more than 100 years.
Our Visual Arts Program includes instruction on techniques and aesthetics, but the ultimate goal is to develop questioning, caring, articulate and ethical people.
Our students are prepared to compete for admission and scholarships to the finest Visual and Performing Arts colleges in the country.
