A Season to Build On
The Pius XI Catholic girls soccer season came to a close Tuesday, June 2 in the first round of the D3 Sectional Championship, falling 3-2 to Campbellsport in a game that was competitive to the final whistle.
And that right there tells the story of this team.
A squad that battled through a tough regular season didn't just show up for the postseason — they showed out. A two-goal game against a strong Campbellsport program is the kind of performance that tells you this group wasn't just participating in the playoffs. They were competing.
For a program still growing, making it to Sectionals and playing it close matters. The experience of postseason pressure, the fight of clawing back to within one goal, the feeling of leaving it all on the field — that's what builds programs. The players who were on that field Tuesday now know what it takes and what it feels like. They'll carry that into the offseason, into summer training, and into next season.
