Blue's Egg, owned by Pius XI alumnus Joe Muench '87, was recently named the Best Restaurant in Wisconsin by Reviews.org. Joe is also owner and chef at Maxie's and Story Hill BKC.
Pius XI Alumnus Donates $50,000 To Alma Mater
Fred Sitzberger '71, Founder and CEO of Sitzberger & Company accounting firm based in Brookfield, recently made a $50,000 donation to Pius XI. This gift comes during our 90th year of service to Catholic education, and will be used to help pay down the school’s building debt.

Pius XI Choir Students Perform with "Foreigner"
On June 26, 2019, a group of Pius XI Choir students performed at Summerfest with the legendary band "Foreigner". Our Popes were brought on stage for the encore song, "I Want To Know What Love Is". What an incredible opportunity!
Cathy Burnett Earns Top Teaching Honor
On May 10, 2019, representatives from the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation, Wisconsin Council of Religious and Independent Schools and the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, along with Alderman Michael Murphy, surprised Cathy Burnett with the 2019 Private School Teacher of the Year Award. Cathy was chosen from among 6,000 private school teachers in Wisconsin for this prestigious award funded by the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation and coordinated by the Wisconsin Council of Religious and Independent Schools (WCRIS). Cathy previously received a 2019 Teacher Fellowship Award in April. See press release HERE
Pius XI Students Attend "Setting Sights" Program
Four current juniors, Maricarmen Figueroa, Eladia Ilk, Amir Bird and Sequoia Blackwell, attended "Setting Sights: A College Search and Selection Workshop for Students of Color" at UW Madison. The students participated in round-table discussions with college admissions counselors from a variety of universities focused on creating a college list, applications and financial aid.
Archbishop Listecki Joins Pius XI Community For Ash Wednesday Mass
Archbishop Jerome Listecki delivered a beautiful message as the Lenten season began with Ash Wednesday Mass. We were also blessed to have the students from Saint Vincent Pallotti Catholic School with us. Thank you to all Pius parents, community members and archdiocese staff who attended!
Engineering Students Win Rube Goldberg Regional Competition
Congratulations to our Engineering students who were First Place Regional Winners in the STEM Forward Rube Goldberg Machine Contest on March 1st. This creative group of problem solvers will head to Lawrenceburg, IN to compete at the national level on April 7th.
Team members include: Noel Barwick, Marie Brehm, Caleb Harris, Max Luksich, Caden McCormick, Sophie Mueller, Noe Shinners, Fernando Torres, and Colleen Webb. The team is coached by Pius XI STEM Department Chairperson Cathy Zurawski '03.
Kehoss and D'Alessio Win WBCA Awards
Congratulations to our Head Baseball Coach and Athletic Director Kevin Kehoss '91 for being selected as the 2018 Summer Baseball Coach of the Year, and Pitcher/Catcher Gino D'Alessio '18 for being selected as the 2018 Summer Baseball Player of the Year. These awards were presented at the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association convention in Middleton on February 9th.
Pius XI Students Win Scholastic Art Awards
Pius XI art students were well represented at this year's Scholastic Art Awards. Nine Gold Key portfolios were chosen among students across the state of Wisconsin, and three of them are Pius XI students - congratulations to seniors Isabella Charles, Sarahi Manriquez, and Allyson Mills! In addition to the three Gold Key Portfolio winners, Pius XI students were awarded eleven Silver Key and Honorable Mention portfolio awards, and fifty individual awards.
The Gold and Silver Award winners will have their artwork on exhibit at the Milwaukee Art Museum from February 2 - March 17.
Hank Raymonds Classic Raises Over $74,000 For Student Scholarships
The 7th Annual Hank Raymonds Classic was a huge success, raising over $74,000 for student scholarships in honor of the legendary Coach Hank Raymonds. The record crowds saw six exciting games, including a thrilling win by the Lady Popes over Brookfield Central. Thank you to our event sponsor, MacGillis Wiemer LLC, as well as all other sponsors, donors, volunteers, and event supporters. It was a special day in the Field House!

Juli Kaufmann '87 and Pius XI Parent JoAnne Sabir Open the Sherman Phoenix
Co-developers Juli Kaufmann '87 (our 2018 Distinguished Alumnae of the Year) and JoAnne Sabir (current Pius XI parent) celebrated their highly-anticipated grand opening of the Sherman Phoenix on November 30. Juli and JoAnne led the $4 million redevelopment of the former BMO Harris Bank in the Sherman Park neighborhood, transforming it into a vibrant marketplace filled with locally owned businesses and non-profit vendors such as Purple Door Ice Cream, Honeybee and Sage Wellness, and Lush Popcorn.
Grace Weber '06 Signs With Capitol Records
Congratulations to Pius XI alumna Grace Weber on signing with Capitol Records! Grace who is currently on a national tour with PJ Morton, has released two albums: "Hope & Heart" in 2011 and "The Refinery" in 2014. She’s been getting increasing national attention after she worked with Chance the Rapper on “Coloring Book” and won a Grammy for her work on “All We Got.” She also launched The Music Lab, Inc., a non-profit offering a free music education, career prep, and open mic performance program to high school-aged youth.
