We are very excited to share that Rebecca “Becky” Foster has been selected by the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation as a Teacher Fellow for 2025, recognizing educational excellence and her commitment to equity and creativity in the classroom. This year marks Becky’s 10th year at Pius XI teaching courses like Women's Voices in Literature, Research and Presentation, and World Literature.

Her teaching philosophy includes a special focus on teaching with a purpose—explaining not just what students are learning, but why it matters. Her methodology helps students see how the skills they learn in her classes help them be successful in their other classes, whether connecting English texts to concepts from psychology or engineering, or building real-world skills like conflict resolution and public speaking.
Becky brings both heart and high expectations to the classroom and knows that academic success starts with students who feel safe, supported, and seen. Beyond the classroom, Becky coached our award winning Forensics Team for 9 years, is the faculty moderator for the Pius XI Feminist Society and is a trivia buff who’s always ready to host a game or recommend a great book. We’re so grateful to have such a thoughtful, creative, and dedicated educator at Pius XI!
