Popes Explode for Season-High 11 Runs in Win Over Milwaukee Riverside
The Popes brought the bats to life on Friday night, posting their highest score of the season in an 11-6 victory over Milwaukee Riverside. After being shut out in their previous contest, Pius XI came out swinging — and never stopped.
Mariano Rivera was the star of the night on both sides of the ball. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings — a new career high. At the plate, he went 4-for-6 with two doubles, a triple, two runs, and his first stolen base of the season. Finn Beecham was equally dominant, striking out nine over four innings while going 3-for-5 with two RBI.
Morgan Gillitzer reached base three times with two stolen bases and two runs, and Isaac Deida reached base in all five plate appearances. As a team, the Popes posted a .522 on-base percentage — their best of the season.

The Next Chapter of Popes Baseball Begins with New Coach
WBCA Hall of Famer Kevin Kehoss built a baseball program rooted in excellence, discipline, and pride. For years, Popes baseball has been synonymous with competing at the highest level and developing young men of character.
Now, Steve Alstadt takes the field as Head Coach—and the mission remains the same.
"I'm here to serve these players," said Coach Alstadt. "To challenge them. To help them grow. To prepare them for success on the field and in life. That's what Coach Kehoss did, and that's what we'll continue to do." Athletic Director Jesse Stewart '07 put it simply: "Coach Alstadt gets it. He understands the standard here, and he's ready to lead."
To our players: The work starts now. To our community: The tradition continues.
Welcome, Coach Alstadt. Let's play Popes baseball. ⚾

Pius XI Catholic High School Baseball:
A Tradition of Excellence.
For generations, the Pius XI Catholic High School baseball program has embodied the school's commitment to excellence both on and off the field. Our storied history includes the crowning achievement of our 2001 WIAA State Championship, numerous conference titles, and a legacy of developing young men who carry the values of dedication, teamwork, and integrity throughout their lives.
When student-athletes join Pius XI baseball, they become part of something greater than themselves – a brotherhood built on shared sacrifice, competitive spirit, and the pursuit of excellence. Our program focuses not only on developing skilled baseball players but on nurturing well-rounded individuals who succeed in the classroom, in their communities, and in their future endeavors.
Under the guidance of Head Coach Kevin Kehoss, today's Popes continue to build upon this proud tradition. With state-of-the-art training facilities, a comprehensive player development system, and a schedule that challenges our athletes to compete at the highest level, we prepare our players for success at the collegiate level and beyond.
