Fieldhouse Entry Protocols
Updated January 1, 2026

To all Visitors and Guests of Pius XI Athletics:

We look forward to welcoming you to our Fieldhouse for your upcoming competition. The safety and security of our students, staff, community, visitors and guests is our top priority. Please be advised that the following enhanced security measures that have been enacted after an incident of vandalism of a threatening nature occurred on our campus in the early morning hours of November 4, 2024.

● Similar to a Brewers game or other sporting event, all visitors will now be required to pass through magnetometers upon entry into the Fieldhouse.

● There will be two screening lanes at the south entrance to the main gym.

● Visitors will be asked to place the following items in a bin: keys, wallets, computers, calculators, phones, metal objects of any kind (including water bottles and insulated lunch bags), as well as items noted on the list below.

● Backpacks, athletic bags and purses should be carried through the magnetometer and should not contain any of the items already noted.

● If the magnetometer display indicates a “red light” for any individual passing through, that individual will be asked to pass through the magnetometer without their bags. The bags will be further screened using screening wands. If the individual sets off an alarm and is not carrying bags, they will be subject to wand screening. Several members of our Athletic Department staff, as well as an armed security guard will be present in the Fieldhouse during all activities.

Items that Have Been Shown to Set Off the Magnetometers

The items indicated below will need to be placed in bins to be screened properly. We ask that you limit them as much as possible in order to help us expedite the screening process. We understand and empathize that this is an inconvenience. Please know your cooperation is key and greatly appreciated.

Coins & metal objects (of any kind)

Nail clippers/files

Curling irons

Hair picks/combs

Pins/clips/carabiners

Insulated lunch bags

Certain candy and chip bags, capri sun pouches

Were commend that you minimize the above items as much as possible or be prepared to place it all in a bin to be screened, which will slow the overall process.
