Athlete Registration

Lady Popes

- We highly recommend completing the athletic registration EARLY to ensure your daughter is able to participate in their desired sport
- Athletic registration is due one week before the season begins
- Hang on to your daughter's WIAA Physical Form as you will need to upload it to the online registration form by taking a picture of it or scanning it

Pius XI Girls Volleyball

The Pius XI Catholic Girls Volleyball program stands as one of the most successful and respected athletic programs in Wisconsin high school sports, built on a foundation of excellence that spans over three decades. Founded in 1929 under the direction of the Pallottine Fathers and the School Sisters of St. Francis, Pius XI Catholic High School has become Milwaukee's premiere coeducational Catholic High School, guided by Franciscan values of dignity, peace, and respect. The volleyball program exemplifies these values while maintaining an unwavering commitment to competitive excellence and character development.

Under the legendary leadership of Head Coach Dave Scher, who has just completed his 31st season, the Popes have achieved remarkable success with over 1,002 career wins, 16 conference championships, 8 state championships, and an incredible 21 straight seasons (1988-2008) with at least 30 victories. Scher, the longest-tenured volleyball coach in the Milwaukee area, reached the milestone of 1,000 career wins during the 2018 Woodland Conference tournament, a testament to his dedication and the program's sustained excellence. The program's rich history is reflected in its extensive all-time roster of 170 players who have contributed to the Popes' legacy over the years.

Coach Scher identifies two distinct characteristics of all his great teams: mental toughness and team chemistry, qualities that have become hallmarks of the Pius XI volleyball program. Currently assisted by former player Jenny Leszczynski '04, Coach Scher continues to build on the program's tradition with the current roster featuring talented student-athletes like seniors Amaya Sprewer, Kate Lange, Jayda Kelly, Karina Contreras, Hope Martens, Georgia Acompanado, and Imani Stockbauer. The team regularly competes at the highest levels of Wisconsin high school volleyball, including recent playoff appearances and strong regional performances, demonstrating that the program's commitment to excellence remains as strong as ever under Scher's continued guidance.
