Coach Joel Claassen Records 500th Career Victory
Pius XI softball head coach Joel Claassen reached a major milestone on Wednesday, May 6, recording his 500th career victory as the Popes had just enough and edged out the Greenfield Hawks 5-4.
The win marks another chapter in Claassen's distinguished tenure leading the Pius XI softball program. Over his years at the helm, Coach Claassen has built a culture of excellence, developing countless student-athletes who have gone on to compete at the next level while instilling values of hard work, discipline, and teamwork that extend far beyond the diamond.
"Coach Claassen's impact on this program goes way beyond wins and losses," said Athletic Director Jesse Stewart. "He's shaped young women into confident athletes, leaders, and people. Five hundred wins is an incredible accomplishment, but it's really a reflection of the relationships he's built and the standard he's set for Pius XI softball."
The team celebrated the milestone victory with Coach Claassen following the game, recognizing not just the number, but the legacy he continues to build with the Popes program.
