Pius XI Track & Field:
Excellence in Motion

For decades, the Pius XI Catholic High School Track & Field program has represented the pinnacle of athletic excellence in Milwaukee and across Wisconsin. Our storied program has produced countless individual champions, record-breakers, and teams that have left an indelible mark on the state's track and field landscape.
Championship Heritage
The Pius XI Track & Field program boasts a rich championship history dating back to the school's earliest days. Our trophy case holds multiple state championships, including the boys' WISAA State Championship titles in the 1980s and 1990s that established Pius as a perennial powerhouse. The Lady Popes have their own impressive collection of championship hardware, with multiple conference, regional, and sectional titles that showcase the program's consistent excellence.
After the transition to WIAA competition, Pius XI has continued to excel, regularly sending athletes to the state meet and bringing home individual state championships that add to our legacy of achievement.
Individual Champions
The heart of Pius XI's track and field story lies in the remarkable achievements of individual athletes who have worn the gold and blue. State champions set records and standards of excellence that continue to inspire today's athletes. Our wall of honor recognizes the dozens of state qualifiers, medalists, and champions whose performances represent the peak of high school athletic achievement.
In the throwing events, jumping disciplines, sprints, and distance races, Pius XI athletes have consistently demonstrated exceptional skill, determination, and competitive spirit. Many have gone on to compete at the collegiate level, extending their athletic careers at institutions ranging from Division III to Division I programs across the country.
A Complete Program
Under the leadership of Head Coach Brady Hunt, today's Pius XI Track & Field program embraces a comprehensive approach to the sport. With dedicated coaches specializing in each discipline, athletes receive expert instruction tailored to their events while being part of a unified team that celebrates individual and collective success.
The program's philosophy emphasizes personal improvement, competitive excellence, and character development. For sprinters looking to shave hundredths of seconds off their times, jumpers aiming to reach new heights, throwers seeking greater distances, and distance runners pushing their endurance limits, the Pius XI Track & Field program provides the coaching, facilities, and competitive opportunities needed to achieve their goals.
Facility Advantages
Pius XI athletes benefit from training facilities that support year-round development. Our track complex, weight room, and indoor training spaces allow athletes to build strength, improve technique, and prepare for competition regardless of Wisconsin's sometimes challenging weather conditions.
Multi-Sport Excellence
Many of Pius XI's most successful track and field athletes have been multi-sport competitors, bringing skills and athleticism developed in football, basketball, volleyball, soccer, and other sports to their track and field events. This cross-training approach has produced well-rounded athletes whose diverse athletic backgrounds contribute to their track and field success.

Join Our Tradition
For prospective student-athletes, the Pius XI Track & Field program offers opportunities for athletes of all experience levels. Whether you're a seasoned competitor looking to reach new heights or someone interested in trying track and field for the first time, our program provides a supportive environment where hard work, dedication, and team spirit are valued.
